How do charitable organizations in Ottawa get involved?

 

Featured charities must be nominated by a member of 100 Women Who Care Ottawa. We invite charitable organizations to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to keep connected and informed of our upcoming events. Many of our members are also looking for a charitable cause to nominate.  We invite featured charities to educate our membership about their causes through our social media platforms.

What are the criteria for consideration of a charitable organization?

​

• Be a registered charity able to provide tax receipts for donations.

 

• Been operating within the City of Ottawa for at least 12 months.​

 

• Have local impact within the ward boundaries of the City of Ottawa.

​

• Have not presented to 100WWCO within the last three years.

​

How are charitable organizations chosen?

Selected charities are nominated by our members; one nomination per member per event. Charitable organization nominations are submitted online or via email and are randomly selected, vetted and announced via social media and email to our members. Each charity is asked to provide a five minute presentation on their work in the City of Ottawa at the next event. Nominations must meet the criteria for consideration before being confirmed and promoted as one of our selected charities.

Why do you only announce the total amount raised for the event and not the amounts received by each charitable organization?

We do this on purpose, to eliminate any sense of competition or winners/losers amongst the charitable organizations. They are all winners in our eyes and deserving of our attention and support.  We only announce a total amount as that is the value the 100 Women Who Care Ottawa have contributed to the community for that event.  If you are interested in finding out the actual amount received by each organization, by all means, please feel free to contact them directly.

What about Matching Donations?

Indeed! Your company or organization may match your charitable donation! If this is the case, please make sure that you make your employer aware of your donation. Please also let us know so that we may count this as a contribution made as a member of 100 Women Who Care Ottawa (and make the charity aware of your generosity).
